Walking 6 Miles a Week Promotes Brain Health

Several new studies this year show that keeping active can help preserve or promote brain function.

A study done at the University of Pittsburg showed that those who walked at least 6 miles per week showed less brain shrinkage than people who walked less. This study was done over a period of nine years and used MRI's to verify brain size. Other studies show that exercise not only prevents brain shrinkage but that in fact this translates into better cognitive function.

What does this mean?

It means aiming to walk about One Mile Everyday of the Week.
