Prostate Cancer, Lycopene and PSA

Tomatoes are a great source for lycopene.  Cooked tomato has more lycopene than raw tomatoes.
While many studies show that lycopene--an anti-oxidant found in tomatoes--may prevent prostate cancer, it is still unclear if it can help somebody who already has prostate cancer.

A study done in 2005 shows that lycopene may be helpful for those who have metastatic prostate cancer. In this study, 78% of those who underwent orchidectomy and consumed 2 mg of lycopene twice daily had complete PSA reduction, vs. 40% complete PSA reduction among those who had surgery only.
