There are yet more reasons to prefer whole unprocessed foods vs processed foods.
A study published in the British Journal of Psychiatry (November 2009) which tracked subjects from 1985 to 2004 showed that those who ate whole foods more frequently had: (1) less probability of being depressed; (2) almost half as likely to develop diabetes. An interesting side note, the study noted that people who ate more processed foods were also more likely to be divorced.
